As a leather sector internationalization project, Brazilian Leather is conducted by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry(CICB) in partnership with Apex-Brasil (the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). There are numerous strategies for consolidating national leathers and hides in foreign markets – encouraging the participation of tanneries in the principle global trade fairs and business missions focused on closer relations between Brazilian suppliers and buyers from other countries are but two of them.
Sustainability is on our daily agenda. It is a movement that is part of the leather industry of Brazil and everything that the CICB plans, as we believe that this position is the only possible for companies that want to stay in our industry. In the country, we have the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB), which promotes and recognizes the best practices of tanneries regarding economic results, reduction of environmental impact and relationships with employees and communities. There are 173 indicators to be worked by companies included in the CSCB, such as: reduction of water consumption, reduction of energy consumption, quality control of products, raw material origin and worker health and safety. The audits to receive certification are made by independent certification Institutes, with international recognition interface.
